SESSION MEETING

OGDEN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

September 15, 2008

Meeting opened with devotions and prayer by Pastor Sudi at 7:05 P.M.

PRESENT:  Pat Everett, Molly Corey, John Caloritis, Harry Pittman and Kristen Kimble, Pat Hutchison, Carol Quinn, DuWayne Paulick, Marilyn Spilberg, and Sudi Layraman, Moderator.

EXCUSED:  Marian Smith

APPROVAL OF AGENDA:  Motion was made, seconded and carried that the agenda by approved.

Motion to approve the minutes of August 18,2008 meeting was made, seconded and carried.

CORRESPONDENCE:  Thank you note from Linda___________ for the donation made to the Theological Education Fund at CRDS.

CLERK’S REPORT:  Forms for the reading of the Session Minute book on November 9th, as I will be out of town I will have to reschedule and attend another reading.

TREASURER’S REPORT:                    Treasurer Report

     Received against above                                  $92,769.

MODERATOR’S REPORT:  Pastor Sudi made 2 hospital visitations and 6 home visitations.  She also attended many, many committee meetings.  Session approved the baptism of Simon James Ryhal on October 19th during the church service.   Pastor Sudi asked that we write our job description and how we have fulfilled it during the past year.
 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

ALTERNATIVE WORSHIP SERVICE- Pat.  Sunday night live will resume on Sept 21st.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION - John C.  This month the OPC Christian Education committee finalized plans for the upcoming Sunday school program and other important September events.  We are also looking forward to the 4th year of Bible Buddies in October, as well as an unexpected Genesee Valley Youth Retreat trip in November.  We are also getting an early start on plans for participation in the 2nd annual Mission trip.

COMMUNICATIONS – Harry Pittman  Harry will put the Pet Blessing announcement in the Suburban

            News.   From Trustees:  Work Day will be Nov. 8th 8-12 noon.  The front doors will be removed
            Refinished, they will be removed 9/27 and put back in time for Harvest Festival.  A motion was
            Made and seconded and approved for the Scouts to hold a Court of Awards on Sept 28th at 5 PM.

DISCIPLESHIP – Molly - Has the Bulletin board started; it is located in the Fellowship Hall near the stairs.

STEWARDSHIP-Molly
 

FELLOWSHIP- Carol   We have greeters and coffee hour host for October & November.  We are going to try and organize an October hayride and serve cider and donuts, or a Halloween party for adults and children with children coming in costumes with snacks, cider and donuts being served plus apple bobbing for the kids.  We also discussed trying another pot luck dinner/family fun night for Nov 7th or 8th.  Our next meeting is Oct 6th at 6:30 PM.
 

FINANCE – Dick   Needs budget numbers from all of the committees to prepare the budget.

 

MEMBERSHIP – Pat H.  Next meeting will be October 6th at 1:00 PM
 

MISSION – Kristin No action Items.  The pig roast was a huge success. We raised $4,419.50 and our expenses were only 471.53 which came out of Mission Budget.  Harry suggested the committee donate an additional $580.50 so we could give Aurora House a check for $5,000. which we all agreed to do.  The check will be given to a representative from Aurora House on Sunday the 21st and Nancy will but an article in the Suburban News.  Kristen and Evelyn are going to send the thank you notes. 

      We agreed to reimburse Pastor Sudi for the groceries she purchased for a Greece family.  The Spencerport churches and food pantry turned him down because he didn’t live here.  Our next meeting will be October 26th after worship.  
 

NOMINATING - Marian   No report

PERSONNEL – DuWayne No action items (will send paragraph)

WORSHIP AND MUSIC – Pat E.  No meeting this month.

     

PRESBYTERY – Meeting will be September 23rd at Parkminister.

 

OLD BUSINESS:  None

NEW BUSINESS: Harry has been asked by the Presbytery to serve on the Judicial Investigation Committee.

            Session Retreat has been scheduled for November 22, from 9-3 at the church

 

NEXT MEETING October 20th at 7:00 PM.  No meeting on November 17th, meeting will take place at the retreat.

 

MOTION TO ADJOURN: Was made at 8:30 PM. Seconded and carried.

 

Our meeting closed with prayer led by Pat Everett.
